About the Hotel
Thornbury Castle is a five-star Tudor castle hotel in the Gloucestershire market town of Thornbury, close to Bristol. Built in the early 16th century by Edward Stafford, third Duke of Buckingham, the castle passed to Henry VIII after Stafford was executed for treason in 1521. Henry later stayed here with Anne Boleyn for ten days in 1535, and guests can still book the suite associated with their visit. Today, the castle combines original Tudor architecture, stone walls, ornate chimneys and historic gardens with individually designed bedchambers and suites. It is also home to a 3 AA Rosette restaurant, making Thornbury Castle one of England’s most distinctive places to experience Tudor history overnight.
