About the Hotel
The Old Bell Hotel is a Grade I listed historic hotel beside Malmesbury Abbey in Wiltshire. Established in 1220 as accommodation for visitors to the abbey, it is widely described as England’s oldest purpose-built hotel and has welcomed travellers for more than eight centuries. The building preserves medieval fabric alongside later additions, with individually designed rooms, period features and characterful public spaces. Today, guests can stay in historic suites and cosy rooms, dine in the Abbey Row restaurant and enjoy the hotel’s lounges and bar, all within a few steps of the remains of Malmesbury Abbey.
